Contrakr Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 20, 2026 · Operated by Contrakr · Contact: support@contrakr.app
Contrakr connects linemen and employers for storm-restoration work. This policy explains what we collect and why, in plain language. We do not sell your personal information.
1. Information you provide
- Profile: your name, classification, approximate home base, work types, years of experience, availability, and contact information. Searchable crew profiles use approximate location and work summaries; your home address and ticket number are not searchable.
- Private storm packet: legal name, verified phone, email, home address, emergency contact, IBEW local and ticket number, glove and sleeve size, CDL classification, medical-card expiration, IBEW classification, union join date, work experience, and notes. It is provided only to the foreman for a call you apply to.
- Credential vault: photos of union tickets, government IDs, commercial driver licenses, medical cards, OSHA/CPR/crane certifications, and other credentials you choose to upload. Contrakr does not collect SSN, tax forms, banking information, or signatures.
- Work and community activity: storm calls, applications and waitlist status, crew groups, check-ins, verified storm history, yard intel, forum ("The Yard") posts, direct messages, follows, reports, ratings, and reviews.
- Referrals and subscriptions: referral codes, who referred an account, yearly referral counts, and Pro access expiration dates. Referral rewards are limited to three successful referrals per referrer per calendar year.
- Verification and app/device data: email-verification state, verified phone number, SMS-verification events, push-notification tokens, timestamps, credential-access audit events, and basic app state needed to secure and sync your account.
2. Location
If you tap "Use my current location," your device's GPS coordinates are used to set your home base and are sent to a reverse-geocoding service to turn them into an address or city/state. If you type an address, Contrakr may use Google Places/Geocoding when configured, or a public city lookup fallback. We use location only to sort jobs by drive distance, match foreman call radius, and fetch local weather alerts.
3. How your data is stored
- Local mode: if cloud sync is off, everything stays in your browser on your device and is never sent to our servers.
- Cloud mode: app records are stored in Google Firebase (Firestore), and credential photos are stored in Firebase Cloud Storage. Credential photos are private by default. You select credential types per application; the call owner receives temporary access, each access is logged, and access ends when an application is withdrawn or declined or when its access period expires.
- Retention: temporary document-access authorizations last five minutes. Application sharing grants normally expire within 120 days and, after completion, within 30 days. Credential-access logs are retained for up to one year. Your vault files remain until you delete them or delete your account.
4. Third-party services we call
- National Weather Service (weather.gov) — live storm alerts.
- Google Maps Platform — address autocomplete and geocoding when configured.
- Google Maps links — SOS/location links you choose to send may open Google Maps with your current coordinates.
- Windy — embedded radar/map view for storm context.
- poweroutage.us — external outage map opened in your browser.
- Open-Meteo — fallback city-to-coordinate lookup.
- BigDataCloud — fallback reverse geocoding from GPS to city/state.
- Google Firebase — database, private file storage, email/password and SMS phone authentication, server functions, and optional push-notification delivery. Standard SMS and carrier handling may apply.
- Google Fonts — typography.
Each provider receives only what's needed to perform its function (e.g. a city name or coordinates) and is governed by its own privacy policy.
5. Your choices
- Use "Log out & reset this device" in your Profile to erase local data.
- Decline the location permission and type your city instead.
- Choose which credential types, if any, to share with each application and review vault access history from your Profile.
- Use "Permanently delete my account" in your Profile to delete your cloud account and associated app content. You can also email support@contrakr.app if you cannot access the app.
6. Children
Contrakr is for working professionals and is not directed to anyone under 18.
7. Changes
We'll update this page and the "Last updated" date when this policy changes.
